It seemed that social media was only used in advertising to sell things to younger people and those in their 20’s for ipods, computers, big screen tv’s and things similar to that. But, now, apparently ophthalmologists are going to use social media advertising as a means to get customers to consider lasik eye surgery. They seem to be learning that social media optimization through a website, on twitter and on Facebook is a great way to advertise to people of all ages. Yes, a lot of young people go through these social networks and this is a good way to get them interested in the procedure.
Contact VS Lasik Eye Surgery
You would think that younger people would be much more in to the idea of wearing contact lenses rather than getting a permanent procedure done on their eyes to correct vision. But, then again, there was something about lasik eye surgery correcting vision to even better vision than contact lenses can offer. This doesn’t seem possible. Plus, since lasik eye surgery is permanent, patients would never have to fuss over taking contacts out and putting them in; potentially dropping and or losing one or both. Lasik eye surgery would certainly have some benefits.
Weighing in on Lasik Eye Surgery
The convenience could win patients over. Having perfect vision doesn’t hurt. And there is a one-time fee to get lasik eye surgery where you have to pay more than twice and more to get contacts, plus you have to pay for doctor visits. Patients probably do not have to see their eye doctor after having this procedure done and having it work. The procedure is also supposed to be fairly simple and not take a ton of time. The procedure has surely advanced over the years as well.
Taking the Fear Out of a Simple Surgery
All the same the word “surgery” may be a bit intimidating to some patients. It helps for them to know that it is a pretty simple procedure that is going to make their eyes have 20/20 vision like they had before they ever got glasses or contacts. So when advertisers aim there marketing at timid potential lasik eye surgery patients, they need to make the procedure seem very painless and extremely simple. Then they will just wonder about the cost…
Since insurance may cover this cost anyway, it may not be such a big deal.
